All who wander are not lost...
Do you wander? or are you the ultimate Planner? Creating daily lists in hopes of completing the entirety by the end of the day, just to fall short time & time again. getting high as you mark through an item with a red pen or sharpie.
Stop it. NOW.
They are definitely needed. definitely warranted. BUT not crucial darling. not life altering. NOT where you need to put all your focus & energy.
Lists do not define us. The number of items we mark off in a a day does not deem us noble or justify our worthiness. Our lives are worth much more than a To-Do list, sista.
We are meant to shine. To live. To wander. To explore. Organization & lists aid in maneuvering through the playbook of Life. But that's it. Lists are only the aid, the extras if you will. Similar to bumper pads in a bowling lane. They can help us roll strikes. But it is much more fun bowling a strike without the bumper pads! Wouldn't you agree?
We tend to rely on our list crushing abilities far more than our life-livin' abilities. We've become obsessed with THE LIST, rather than, THE LIFE.
For those who know me, and for those of you who don't, let me introduce myself.
Hi, my name is Jen, and I am a Wanderer. Labeled "spacey" in high school. wink. Why the label you might ask? because I wander, explore, & live with passion. No set agenda, no set rules of how life is supposed to be. No directions on how to live, or a map telling me where to go. No set of lists holding me back.
We are all born with different personalities and skill sets. This isn't about becoming something you are not. It's about throwing caution to the wind. and getting rid of your crutches darling, your bumper pads. I double-dog dare ya to throw a strike. YOU CAN! #CrowdRoars
I'll leave you with a story....
Traveling to Europe over a year ago with my husband & another couple, we had a strict agenda. (TripAdvisor worthy indeed!!!!) We wanted to see as much as humanly possible while overseas. We took a train to Florence, Italy for the day. Saw the Ponte Vecchio bridge, Cathedral, and Statue of David to name a few. As our friends & my hubby darted off to catch the train back, I paused.
Our agenda, our list if you will, was complete. Completed in its entirety in fact!
Now it was time to leave. But I didn't think it was. (remember, I paused.) I told them to go ahead without me. I'd catch a later train. They asked, "What on earth are you going to do?"
I replied, "Explore Florence. Find a hole in the wall cafe/ bar, and drink a glass of wine. people watch. listen to the sounds, smell the air." I then immediately pulled up google.
But I didn't wait for the "to do list" to download.
Rather, I started walking. We walked the streets of Florence. We wandered. We came upon a cobblestoned street and explored. We found the "off the beaten path" cafe/bar I had always imagined & enjoyed a glass of wine. We listened to all the sounds, and observed Florence how it was supposed to be experienced... It was the most glorious and memorable day!
We took a picture to capture the memory. Every time my husband uses his cell phone, this picture is shown. It is still his screensaver. He has yet to change it. I believe in that moment over a year ago, Wandering won.
Wandering leaves an imprint on all those who are lucky enough to partake in it.
So go ahead and try it... I dare ya.
Love your Life. Live your Dream. Be Amazing... Always.
